Svastha comes from Sanskrit and means 'the state of complete health and well-being in body and mind.' Svastha Yoga uses the essential principles of Yoga and Ayurveda and represents the authentic teachings of the legendary Master Sri T Krishnamacharya as passed down over a period of 18 years to Sri A.G. Mohan, author of “Yoga for Body Breath and Mind” and “Yoga Therapy”.
Svastha Yoga will address both your functional and structural health (such as misalignment, stiffness, weakness, poor posture, scoliosis). It will help you direct your own conscious evolution toward balance, overall health and well-being.
The unique Svastha Yoga active breathing technique will move your entire spine and give you strength and flexibility throughout the body, while promoting stillness of mind and tranquility. The active breathing is integrated into the Asanas (postures) practice and this will also increase your overall strength and flexibility. Other types of Pranayama (breathing techniques) are also taught.
Iris also offers Pre- and Post-Natal Svastha Yoga classes as well as Yoga for Men classes. In addition, she gives a Personal Wellness Programme of 12 sessions of 2 1/2 hours each, combining a private session, group classes and interactive learning sessions.
Svastha Yoga classes hold no more than 10 participants.
